Omnia Sol (Latin for “Everywhere Sun”) is a multidisciplinary artist and musician whose work explores the intersection of nostalgia, media archaeology, and the irrealist landscapes that emerge between analog and digital glitch. With a passion for collecting vintage physical media, particularly VHS tapes, and a deep enthusiasm for analog technology's role in visual and sonic art, Omnia Sol founded The Omnia Sol Art Show in 2020. This glitch-art talk show blends artist interviews, music videos, and a kaleidoscopic array of plunderoptic video art—often vibrant, strobing, and unexpectedly captivating. Each episode is uploaded to YouTube. Previous live episodes as well as bonus episodes of The Omnia Sol Art Show are available exclusively on Patreon.
Omnia Sol works both solo as an audiovisual artist and as part of several collaborative projects. They are a member of WNTSAD, a collective with Ian Kang, Yun Lee, Yiyi Liu, and Do Trong Quy, as well as Dangdut Stereo, a collaboration with Ravinda D. Wibowo. Additionally, Omnia Sol creates visuals for DJs and performers within Chicago's underground DIY rave scene, pushing the boundaries of live audiovisual performance.
Beginning with traditional woodblock printmaking and comics, Omnia Sol earned a BFA from Southern Illinois University in Carbondale in 2014. Their artistic practice soon expanded into painting, installation, and performance, before diving into time-based media like video and sound art in 2020. Currently pursuing an MFA at The School of the Art Institute of Chicago in Film, Video, New Media, and Animation, Omnia Sol continues to explore the layers of time, technology, and memory, creating immersive experiences that invite viewers to question the spaces where the past and future collide.
